YOGYAKARTA – The Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta received an official visit from the Communication Science Study Program of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati (SGD) Bandung on Friday (October 31, 2025). Taking place at the Communication Science program office at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, this visit served to foster institutional ties while exploring strategic collaborations between the two universities.

The delegation from UIN SGD included the Head of the Public Relations Concentration, Dr. Dyah Rahmi Astuti, M.Si., CPR, and the Head of the Journalism Concentration, Drs. Abdul Aziz Ma'arif, M.Ag. The group was warmly welcomed by the Head of the Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Mokhamad Mahfud, S.Sos.I., M.Si., alongside his fellow lecturers.

During the discussion, both programs addressed shared challenges faced by Communication Science programs under the auspices of State Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKIN). The Head of the PR Concentration highlighted the sense of "shared destiny" regarding the academic positioning of communication studies within this specific educational environment. The discussion also focused on common hurdles, such as competition with Islamic Broadcasting Communication (KPI) programs, which are widely established across PTKIN institutions.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing program quality to compete effectively with Communication Science programs outside the Ministry of Religious Affairs network. Both parties agreed that to achieve genuine "Superior" status, focus must be directed toward improving research, international publications by lecturers, and student achievements in international competitions.

As a concrete follow-up to the discussion, the visit concluded with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the two study programs. It is hoped that this agreement will not only strengthen institutional ties but also serve as a strategic step to collectively elevate quality standards and the competitiveness of Communication Science programs within the PTKIN environment on a national level.
