Langit Pictures Indonesia Provides Film Literacy and Explores Collaboration with Communication Science Department

YOGYAKARTA — The Communication Science Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, welcomed a visit from the production house Langit Pictures Indonesia on Friday (December 5, 2025). Held in the FISHUM Multimedia Room, the event served as a platform for film literacy and in-depth discussion on the creative industry, bringing together practitioners, lecturers, and students.

The event, which took place from 14:30 to 16:00 WIB, went beyond theoretical discussions, creating a space for the exchange of ideas between academia and the industry. The discussion also actively involved the Pukul Mundur Community, a student film community under the auspices of the Communication Science Department, known for its active engagement and numerous achievements in short film competitions.

In their presentation, representatives from Langit Pictures Indonesia emphasized the philosophy that film should not be viewed merely as entertainment. Instead, film is a powerful communication medium for conveying messages.

"A good film always starts with a good story. A strong story can capture attention and evoke audience emotions even when delivered through the simplest means: the spoken word," stated a Langit Pictures representative during the discussion session.

Collaboration Opportunities and Cooperation Agreements

Beyond sharing technical insights and narrative skills, the meeting resulted in a strategic understanding between both parties. The Communication Science Department and Langit Pictures Indonesia agreed to explore sustainable cooperation.

This planned collaboration is expected to extend beyond discussion and be formalized through a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). Future cooperation is projected to cover various aspects, ranging from technical production support and promotion strategies to human resource development for aspiring young filmmakers on campus.

Mas Bimo, a representative from Langit Pictures Indonesia, concluded the session with an optimistic statement signaling open opportunities for students to engage in professional production.

"See you on set," expressed Mas Bimo, offering encouragement to the students.

This event is expected to serve as a concrete initial step in strengthening the synergy between the Communication Science Department of FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the national film industry, while simultaneously enhancing student competence in preparation for the professional world.
