Communication Science Study Program Invites Students to Examine the Role of PR and Advertising in the Creative Industry
YOGYAKARTA – The Communication Science Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FISHUM) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta once again organized a strategic academic activity for its students.
The Study Program held a Public Lecture titled "Understanding PR from Advertising: When Communication Becomes the Key to Influence in the Creative Industry" on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The event took place in the Conference Room (IC) on the 1st Floor of FISHUM, running from 08:00 to 13:30 WIB.
This public lecture was designed to respond to the dynamics of the creative industry, where the boundaries between Public Relations (PR) and Advertising functions are increasingly blurred.
For this event, the Communication Science Study Program presented an expert speaker, Muhammad Chandra Kurniyawan, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. The interactive discussion was guided by moderator Anindya Septiana Arfian, S.Sos., M.Sos.
The main focus of the material presented was to provide deep insights into how the roles of PR and Advertising intersect in professional practice. Students were invited to understand the most effective communication strategies for building influence in the fast-moving creative industry. The students' enthusiasm was evident in their attendance to listen to the presentation on the key to influence in industrial communication.
It is hoped that by holding this event, Communication Science students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga will possess a strong practical understanding of the integration of marketing and corporate communication before entering the professional world.
