Party of Public Relations 2025: The Young Generation is Time to Take Action, Make an Impact for the Country

The Public Relations Concentration of the Communication Studies Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta again held their annual event “Party of Public Relations” (POP) in 2025. This event was initiated as a forum for students and high school / equivalent students throughout Indonesia to express and show their abilities in the field of communication, especially Public Relations.

This year, the POP 2025 committee is the Communication Science Students Class of 2023 and the focus of the event is directed to the realm of the creative economy with the big theme “Public Relations Strategies For Creative Economy”. Various events will be held at this event, starting from the Grand Opening & Fun Walk, Entrepreneurial Workshop with the theme “POP Calls Young Entrepreneurs”, Competition, to Awarding Night as closing.

The theme of Creative Economy was chosen because of the serious challenges faced by Indonesia in the field of economic independence so that there needs to be an effective communication strategy in building and strengthening this creative economy industry, especially among young people.

"This theme was raised because Indonesia is facing serious challenges in building economic independence, especially in the MSME and creative economy sectors. This challenge shows the need for an effective communication strategy to change the mentality of the community, especially young people, improve branding, and expand the market for local products," said Chairman of the POP 2025 Committee, Himawan Wicaksono.

The ongoing event is POP Competition which consists of 4 competitions, namely PR Campaign Akasia (PR Campaign), Hivecomp (Bussines Plan), Nectar (News Anchor), and Honey (Short Movie). Registration and submission of works are open from April 14, 2025 to May 7, 2025. All competitions are for university students, while high school students can only register for the Nectar and Honey competitions. The competition was held online (Nectar and Honey) and hybrid (PR Campaign Akasia and Hivecomp) at the Integrated Lecture Building (GKT) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Grand Opening & Fun Walk as the first step in creating a strong momentum and positive image of Public Relations strategy will be held on May 18, 2025 at the Polyclinic yard of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Followed by three days later on May 21, 2025, an Entrepreneurial Workshop with the theme “POP Calls Young Entrepreneurs” which was attended by three speakers in their fields, including: Mrs. Dyah Laily Fardisa (Owner of Bolosego), Mr. Agus Mulyono S.P, M.T as Secretary of the DIY Cooperative and UKM Office, and Cellano Chandra (PR & Marketing Communications) took place at the Convention Hall 2nd Floor UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The series of POP 2025 events was closed with the peak night “Awarding Night” on May 28, 2025 at the Convention Hall 2nd Floor UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, one of the series of events was the announcement and awarding of the POP 2025 competition championship accompanied by various kinds of entertainment, in the form of Dance, Band Performance, and Mini Musical Drama in the series of events.

The hope of organizing the POP 2025 event is to be a driving force for the audience, especially young people (students and students) to participate in contributing to advancing the Indonesian economy “We hope that every audience who participates in this event, especially young people in Indonesia, can be motivated to move in the field of creative economy in Indonesia,” Himawan concluded.
