On August 29, 2024, UIN Suska Riau Communication Science Study Program conducted benchmarking to UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Communication Science Study Program. The main purpose of this visit was to learn and gain insight into the process of establishing and managing the Master Program (S2) in Communication Science at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This activity was attended by the leadership of UIN Suska Riau Communication Science Study Program, lecturers, and several administrative staff.

The benchmarking event began with remarks from the Head of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Rama Kertamukti., who gave an overview of the background and development of the Master of Communication Science Program on their campus. In his speech, Dr. Hadi explained that the establishment of this Master's program is part of the Study Program's efforts to improve the quality of education and research in the field of communication and meet the needs of more skilled professionals in the digital era.

Dr. Rama Kertamukti highlighted several important aspects in the establishment of the master program, including curriculum preparation, accreditation, human resources, and supporting facilities. He explained that the curriculum of the Master of Communication Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is designed with an approach that integrates theory and practice, and considers the current needs of the communication industry. The program offers a variety of specializations, including digital communication, media management, and communication research, designed to meet various professional needs.

In the discussion that took place, the guests from UIN Suska Riau were very enthusiastic and interested in how UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Communication Science Study Program designed the curriculum and structured the program. They learned about the process of applying for and being approved for accreditation from the national accreditation body, as well as the challenges faced during the process. Dr. Hadi also explained the strategies implemented to ensure that this master's program can produce graduates who are ready to face global challenges in the field of communication.

In addition to the presentations, the benchmarking event also included a Q&A session that allowed participants from UIN Suska Riau to ask various questions related to the management of the master's program, including how UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Communication Science Study Program overcomes obstacles in program development and ensures teaching quality. Dr. Rama Kertamukti and his team provided detailed answers and shared practical experiences on various aspects of master's program management.

In this series of visits, participants also toured facilities that support the master's program, such as the communication laboratory, production studio, and research center. Through this visit, they were able to see first-hand how these facilities are used to support the learning and research of master's students.

The benchmarking event ended with the handover of souvenirs and a statement of commitment to continue to establish cooperation and share knowledge in the future. UIN Suska Riau expressed high appreciation for the warm welcome and very useful information provided by UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Communication Science Study Program. They hope that this visit can help them in the process of establishing a master's program on their campus and improve the quality of education in UIN Suska Riau's Communication Science Study Program.
