Tangerang, Nov 29 2024 – The Communication Science study program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta visited Bens Radio, which is owned by one of the Betawi artists and legends, namely the late H. Benyamin S. This activity aims as a student learning about the world of radio broadcasting so that students have knowledge, relationships, experience and important information that will later be used for study program activities and further levels.

Bunga Alisha as the program director of Bens Radio in her presentation explained, "Radio now, especially here at Bens Radio, has also switched to digital and can be watched via streaming, so that this radio still exists, we have a strategy besides following the existing times, we also have a market strategy, namely the C to D class market, for example, drivers, market traders and the like because they are not always online with the internet, with a target listener age of 25-35 years. Thus we received an award from Nielsen as the radio with the most listeners in Jabodetabek." In addition, he also explained about the segments in Bens Radio, the practice of operating radio broadcasting equipment with a Bens Radio broadcaster named Mpok Iing, and an explanation about maintenance in the production studio.

One of the main things that underlies the establishment of Bens Radio by the late H. Benyamin is to preserve Betawi culture so that it is not eroded or even lost by the development of the times because considering the Jabodetabek area there are many immigrants from various regions as explained by Kevin Onyx as the general manager of Bens Radio.

With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that students can absorb knowledge and experiences related to team management, radio announcer equipment operation, marketing strategies at Bens Radio so that they can be used properly by students of the Communication Science study program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
