Meeting of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Academic Guidelines 2024 and FIBAA International Accreditation Documents

The event was attended by various academic stakeholders, including the Head of the Communication Science Study Programme (Kaprodi), as well as various other university officials and staff.

Preparation of 2024 Academic Guidelines

This meeting aimed to update and refine UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Academic Guidelines for the 2024 academic year. These Academic Guidelines serve as a guide for all academic activities at the university, from planning, implementation, to evaluation. This update is important to ensure that the guidelines are in line with the latest developments in the field of higher education and the needs of the global labour market.

In his speech, the Head of LPM UIN Sunan Kalijaga, r. Muhammad Fakhri Husein, S.E., M.Si, emphasised the importance of this document in ensuring the quality and relevance of education provided by the university. He stated, ‘Comprehensive and up-to-date Academic Guidelines are key to supporting our vision of becoming a world-class university that produces high-quality graduates.’

Preparation of FIBAA International Accreditation Documents

In addition to discussing the Academic Guidelines, the meeting also focused on the preparation of documents for international accreditation by FIBAA. Previously, in May 2023, UIN Sunan Kalijaga successfully achieved FIBAA accreditation for 18 study programmes. This achievement is a significant step in the university's efforts to achieve international higher education standards.

The Head of Communication Studies, who also attended the meeting, said that the preparation of accreditation documents involves a thorough evaluation of various aspects, including curriculum, teaching methods, and supporting facilities. ‘The accreditation process is not only about meeting international standards, but also about improving the overall quality of our education,’ he said.

FIBAA, based in Bonn, Germany, is known as a quality assurance agency that uses standards from the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). Accreditation by FIBAA shows that study programmes at UIN Sunan Kalijaga meet international criteria in terms of educational quality, curriculum relevance, and graduates' ability to compete in the global labour market.

Participation and Expectations

The meeting was attended by various parties including deans, vice deans, and heads of study programmes from various faculties at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The active participation of these stakeholders shows a shared commitment to continuously improve the quality of education at the university.

Vice Rector 1 for Academic Affairs and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. Iswandi Syahputra, added that the achievement of this FIBAA accreditation is not the end, but the beginning of ongoing efforts to improve educational standards at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. ‘International accreditation is a recognition of our quality, but what is more important is how we maintain and continue to improve that quality in the future,’ he said.

The meeting on 20 May 2024 marked an important step in UIN Sunan Kalijaga's journey to strengthen its position as an excellent higher education institution at the national and international levels. Through the preparation of comprehensive Academic Guidelines and the preparation of FIBAA accreditation documents, UIN Sunan Kalijaga demonstrates its commitment to providing high-quality education that is relevant to the needs of the times.

With the full support of the entire academic community, UIN Sunan Kalijaga is ready to continue to innovate and make a real contribution to the world of education, both in Indonesia and in the global arena.
