Discussion with Alumni of Communication Studies Program

The Communication Science Study Program of the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) themed Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) which was filled with discussions with alumni of the Communication Science Study Program. The event lasted for three days, from October 22 to 24, 2023, and became a platform for senior alumni, including Dewa Ramadhan, a 2007 graduate, to share successful experiences after completing their studies.
In his remarks, Dr. Rama Kertamukti, Head of the Department of Communication Science at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, said that the FGD was designed to inspire students about the potential and opportunities that exist after graduation. "Hearing the success stories of alumni can be a motivation for students to undergo their educational journey with enthusiasm," he said.
In the first session, Dewa Ramadhan, a senior alumnus of 2007, became the main speaker. In an enthusiastic discussion, Dewa Ramadhan shared his career journey after completing his studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Communication Sciences. "MBKM provided a strong foundation for me to develop skills and knowledge in the world of media and communication," he said.
Dewa Ramadhan also described the important role of the network and interpersonal skills he gained during his studies. "The alumni network and communication skills that I honed at UIN Sunan Kalijaga really helped me in my career," he added.
Subsequent sessions involved direct interaction between participants and other alumni, providing opportunities for students to ask questions, discuss, and gain practical insights into various fields of work after graduation. Other alumni also shared how MBKM helped them find their passion and better direct their careers.
The event was closed with the hope that through the inspiration and knowledge gained from the alumni, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Communication Science students will be more motivated to achieve success after completing their studies. The Head of Communication Science hopes that this kind of activity can become a routine agenda that provides great benefits for the academic and professional development of students.
