Getting to Know Garuda Indonesia's Marketing Strategy Through the Role of Flight Attendants through Guest Lecture Activities

Yogyakarta, November 19, 2024 – The Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta had the opportunity to host a guest lecture titled “Marketing Strategy of Garuda Indonesia Flight Attendants: Strength and Value.” The event was held at the Interactive Center of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, featuring Mita Yuliana, A.Md., as the speaker and Dr. Diah Ajeng Purwani, S.Sos., M.Si., as the moderator.

The event aimed to educate students in the field of marketing communication, focusing on the strengths and values of marketing strategies employed by Garuda Indonesia flight attendants in communicating with and serving customers.

The lecture session began with an overview of the brief history of Garuda Indonesia, followed by a presentation of the airline’s achievements during the 2011–2015 period. This introduction provided participants with a deeper understanding of Garuda Indonesia.

During the lecture, Mita Yuliana, A.Md., explained the role of cabin crew or flight attendants as the frontline representatives and the identity of an airline. She emphasized that cabin crew are a key strength and added value for airlines in building market trust.

In her presentation, Mita Yuliana, A.Md., also shared insights from her 14 years of experience as a flight attendant for Garuda Indonesia. She highlighted the importance of prioritizing passengers in all situations, stating that customer trust in an airline’s safety and comfort is crusial.

Following the presentation, the event continued with a question-and-answer session, that received high enthuasiasm from the students. Communication Science students posed various questions related to marketing communication strategies and Garuda Indonesia.

Through this event, it is hoped that the academic community gained deeper insights into marketing strategies, particularly those implemented by Garuda Indonesia flight attendants. (tim)
