Diving into Digital Advertising Through a Guest Lecture Activity
Yogyakarta, Thursday (11/14) – The Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a guest lecture at the Interactive Center of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This activity presents two expert speakers: Dr. Ni Nyoman Dewi Pascarani, S.S., a lecturer in Communication Science at Udayana University and Head of the Public Communication Unit at Udayana University, as well as Dr. Ingrid Tedjakumala, B.A., M.A., Head of the Academic Senate at LaSalle Design College Jakarta.
The first session began with a presentation by Dr. Ni Nyoman Dewi Pascarani, M.Si., titled “The Power of Media Monitoring: Navigating the Digital Landscape.” In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of media monitoring in the digital era for understanding competitors, improving products or services, enhancing brand image, and optimizing campaigns. She also provided insights on how to effectively utilize media to implement successful media monitoring strategies.
The second session was led by Dr. Ingrid Tedjakumala, B.A., M.A., who presented material titled “Creating Connections: Storytelling in Campaign Ads.” She explained the importance of storytelling in advertising as a means of building emotional connections with the audience and ensuring that messages resonate more deeply with them.
Following the presentations, the event continued with an engaging question-and-answer session. Students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Communication Science program posed a variety of questions, demonstrating their keen interest in exploring digital advertising and the creative strategies that can uniquely enhance brand awareness.
Through this event, it is hoped that students gained a deeper understanding of digital advertising and the various strategies that can be applied to advertising campaigns in the digital era. (rm/red)
